Expectations for your sophomore season: "This year everything about my team is different. We have a few returning players, all new coaches, we’re in a different division and have possibly no season. I’m going into this season knowing I have to lead my team and contribute to building our program."

Adria Lincoln is a 6'1 Shooting Guard from Monroe, Washington. She's currently a sophomore at Monroe High School and runs with the Northwest Blazers on the Girls Under Armour Circuit. She currently holds offers from Butler, Montana State and Portland University. Lincoln is one of the top Two-Way prospects in the state of Washington and one of the most mobile players I've worked with so far. She's a lengthy, skilled prospect who's a do-it-all player on the court. In her freshman season, Lincoln averaged a double-double putting up 15 points and 11 rebounds per game. She has over 300 points in her career so far and isn't slowing down anytime soon. Lincoln will continue her stellar play and take on a task of being a leader this season as the Monroe Lady Bearcats will be rebuilding. Here is my breakdown of the elite prospect!

BREAKDOWN:

STRENGTHS

  • Active rebounder

  • Aggressive scorer - Attacks the basket strong.

  • Catch and Shoot Threat

  • College Ready Prospect - Skillset/Eye Test

  • Good Court Vision

  • High IQ

  • Lengthy, Tall Guard - Uses size and long arms to her advantage.

  • Mobility

  • Plays with great pace - Never gets sped up, or out of control.

  • Takes advantage of mismatches.

  • Uses a variety of moves to set her defender up to score - Ball Fakes, Jab Steps

  • Space Creator

  • Versatile Two-Way player

Adria is one of the smoothest players that I've covered from Washington state. Her style of play is unique where it looks so effortlessly when the ball is in her hand. Lincoln always looks to score by reading off her defender and doesn't think twice about making the right play. She is a catch and shoot threat when left alone on the perimeter and has the ability to blow by her defender for an easy two, or dump off to another teammate. Lincoln is very mobile on the court as she moves very well on both sides of the ball. Offense is a major part of her game but she uses her size and length to an advantage to rebound and block shots at a high rate. Adria Lincoln is a legit Division 1 prospect in the making!

THINGS TO IMPROVE ON/SOAK IN

  • Getting stronger as time goes on

  • Quicker release on shot

Not much flaws to Adria's game, but there's a few things that the Washington product can work on. Lincoln told me that getting a quicker release on her shot will help her consistently get a shot off on the perimeter at an efficient rate,

Some things to add on is getting stronger and playing much faster as time goes on. Lincoln is only a sophomore in high school, but gaining more experience on the prep level will help her get stronger as a player. Playing in big school ball games, AAU tournaments and soaking in a lot of knowledge from trainers and mentors throughout her prep career. I look out for every athlete I work with and Adria Lincoln is a name to remember. I see a lot of potential in her and best believe that she will be on national television one day! I asked Adria several questions so y'all can get to know her better.

ADRIA LINCOLN Q&A

When did you first start playing basketball?

  • "I started playing rec ball in 1st grade."

Describe your game.

  • "People typically describe me as being long & versatile with good court vision. Selfless and a good team player."

What is your role on Monroe’s basketball team?

  • "This year I’m one of three returners so I need to really step up and be a role model for the newer players. Showing them the importance of working hard, focus and commitment."

How has your recruitment been?

  • "Schools started calling the Summer before 9th grade. I’ve heard from dozens of schools and talk to some of them every couple weeks. I have offers from Montana State, University of Portland and Butler."

How has the experience been shooting with SMG Models?

  • "Between traveling for basketball and the covid shutdowns I actually haven’t had that much time for modeling. It’s been interesting getting to know the industry and I’m hoping for some more opportunities soon."

How was your summer experience playing with the Northwest Blazers?

  • "My experience this summer with Blazers was great, and allowed me to grow in my skills and as a leader. I like the coaches and all the girls and the play style. It’s been really fun!"

You’re still at a very early stage of your career. What kinds of things are you doing to make yourself the best player you can be?

  • "With COVID there’s not a lot I can control right now so I’m focusing on the things I’m able to do like working on strength training and conditioning and just really taking advantage of any gym time and games I’m able to get."

What are your expectations heading into your sophomore season?

  • "If we end up having a high school season I’m really not sure what to expect. It’s going to be a rebuilding year since we only have two other Varsity returners. All new coaching staff who we haven’t even met in person yet and Monroe moved from 4A to 3A. Even though everything is going to be new, I’m looking forward to just being back in the gym and being with the team again."

What is one message of encouragement, or motivation that you have for people?

  • "This is all temporary so just keep working on what you have in your control, take advantage of any opportunities that come up and know that this will just make you more thankful for what you have in the future."
